I have been so uninspired lately that I couldn’t even bring myself to post anything. I am writing a piece for print media and I have an April 1 deadline and feel that I’m not getting anywhere with it so that is one reason I haven’t felt I could justify writing online. The sad thing is, I haven’t written much of anything. Blahhhhhhhhhhhhh….

She’s buying the stairway to nowhere

When I was walking the dogs last weekend, I got way off the beaten path and found the stairway to nowhere. Basically, it leads to a mud bank that, should you step into it, the Earth would probably swallow you. It is interesting that there is no evidence that a structure was ever anywhere near this thing. I’m not even sure I could find it again – definitely not in summer because it’s to thick here to walk in that’s why I’ve never ventured into this place before.

Speaking of being swallowed by the Earth, less than a mile from the stairway to nowhere I found an old car growing out of the riverbank. One day before things start getting grown up, I want to come back here and see if I can make a guess at what year and model of car this is.

  • I was JUST thinking about you. I understand the whole justification for writing here thing. So much has been going on with me lately that I had to start writing or go crazy I think. Missed ya. *hugs*

  • Clever name for those stairs!  Maybe it’s just the angle, but those stairs look steep.  Something else odd about them is that they look quite sturdy.  Stairs to nowhere, with no evidence of there ever having been anything near them, seem like they would be old and very rickety.  Hope you can figure out the car info. soon.  Good luck with your writing!

  • @Still_groovy - The stairs are very steep that’s one of the reasons they baffled me. Well, that and they’re in the middle of nowhere and serve no apparent purpose.

  • Also, they appear to be extremely sturdy meaning that they were supposed to serve no apparent purpose for a very long time.

  • interesting…

there’s a road in iqaluit, nwt, (on baffin island) that’s called “The Road to Nowhere” because it goes the same place as those stairs.  nowhere.  you can even see it on google earth!

  • You always have the coolest pictures. I like the stair case to no where…I wonder what was there before….or where it was supposed to lead! I never run across anything cool like that! I should get out more!
